For Kathryn & Will’s Chateau Soulac Wedding, the sun shone and the fat lady sang. All day long. Any correlation? Well yes, quite a bit actually…

For one thing, it meant that Kathryn & Will’s wedding was moved outdoors rather than in. This good thing opens up so many more opportunities visually for the photographer & filmmaker.

We got off to a good start the day prior with an on-site meeting, hugely valuable into what happens on the wedding day. Other than a studio based pre-wedding meeting, there is NOTHING better any couple can do in regard to maximising what then becomes possible on the wedding day itself. The results are the proof of that particular pudding.

And so the sunshine. Some photographers don’t much like it and videographers often even less, but there’s sunlight and there’s sunlight. Light is both about quantity and quality and whilst from mid morning to mid afternoon it can be a bit harsh at this time of year, there are ways to use it to our advantage. Generally the later in the day the ceremony is (5pm onwards) the better, but ultimately you have to roll with what you’ve got.

Bride prep was the first principal chapter of the day with makeup and hair by Lizbeth. Kathryn’s dress was by Caroline Castigliano and shoes by Ted Baker.

The outdoor ceremony that followed was conducted by celebrant Binny Baker and flowers (bouquets, ceremony, table etc) were by Jenny Fairbanks.

Post-ceremony, there were two parts to the drinks reception.

Part 1 took place immediately on one of the lawns in the inner courtyard of Chateau Soulac. Part 2 on the terrace with one of the most spectacular views over the Dordogne river valley.

Drinks, canapes, music by JoCee & The Ways, the sun shining…

Towards the end of this part of the day, we slipped away for around 20 or so minutes to get some pictures and video of just the B&G and again, the practice we had the day prior played a large part in what we then went on to achieve on this, their actual wedding day.

The meal & speeches took place in the party barn which was as always, beautifully set up by Jo and her team at Soulac.

The evening finished off with dancing to JoCee & The Ways once again who went down a storm.
